Skyrim Custom Set

Custom Cards forum

I was playing Skyrim last night and thought it would be cool if we (the Tapped Out community) spit balled some ideas for a Skyrim set. I was thinking a tribal set with Deadras (including Dremora), Orcs and Dwarves. The first card I considered:

Alduin, the World Eater 3(B)(R)(G)

Type: Planeswalker - Alduin

Loyalty: 4

+1 - Destroy target artifact or enchantment

0 - Draw two cards, discard two cards

-8 - Alduin, the World Eater becomes a 6/6 Dragon creature with "whenever this creature deals combat damage, exile target creature card from any graveyard."

Jay says... #2

I feel like he isn't strong enough for that cost, and is too niche. Maybe do his ult as a 0 and give him a mass dragon Rise of the Dark Realms as ult? And with a plus that specific it probably won't happen outside of EDH more than like once.

-8 - Put all creature cards exiled by Alduin, the World Eater onto the battlefield under your control

I'd recommend changing the first one to 'Destroy up to one target artifact or enchantment' If there were no artifacts or enchantments he'd be stuck at his starting loyalty.

Also, I feel like his ultimate could use some buffing. I mean, Gideon Jura 's animation ability is generally more powerful than this one as he isn't always a creature and it prevents damage to him. Also, maybe the animation should grant Alduin flying as well, he does a lot of that. :P

Good luck with the set! I might try throwing an idea in there when I've gotten some sleep!

please do Dritz I want to see some cool ideas that we can all share with our play groups and have some casual fun!

Whiterun guard1w1/2When whiterun gaurd deals combat damage to a player, you may search that players sideboard for any card and keep it in real life. Flavor text: "I will be taking that, criminal".

September 11, 2013 4:35 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #7

Let me rephrase

Whiterun Guard

2ww

1/2

When Witerun Guard deals combat damage to a player, you may search that players sideboard for a card and confiscate it. You never have to give it back.

Flavor: "I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took an arrow to the knee."

September 11, 2013 4:39 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #8

Vigilance

Creature. Dog companion.

1WB

Vigilance

3/3

If Vigilance deals enough combat damage to another creature to destroy it, Sacrifice Vigilance.

2WB: You may cast Vigilance from your graveyard.

Mythic Rare

September 11, 2013 4:47 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #9

I like those, add Confiscate as a set mechanic

September 11, 2013 4:54 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #10

Yeah. This woukd actually be pretty cool. Add all the characters and companions. Companions would be rares and mythics, and you would be able to recast them from your graveyard, but at high cost.

September 11, 2013 5:21 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #11

Companions would definitely be R/G and transformable since they're all werewolves ; )

September 11, 2013 5:22 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #12

Certain companions. There should be artifact armor as well.

September 11, 2013 5:30 p.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #13

Don't forget the Daedric artifacts as Equipment.

Wabbajack - 4

Equip 2

Equipped creature gains "When equipped creature is blocked, flip a coin. If you win the flip, all creatures blocking equipped creature become 0/1 Goats. If you lose the flip, all creatures blocking equipped creature become 6/6 Dremoras with Indestructible."

September 11, 2013 5:31 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #14

Oh god haha that is awesome

September 11, 2013 5:34 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #15

Should be less to cast though.

September 11, 2013 5:35 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #16

Dremora tokens! They would almost always be 6/6

September 11, 2013 5:36 p.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #17

Haha I just threw it together. But I don't personally like the Wabbajack, so I didn't want it to be that good. Here's another:

Mehrune's Razor - 3

Equip 1

When equipped creature is blocked, roll a die. If a 6 is rolled, destroy target creature blocking equipped creature.

September 11, 2013 5:37 p.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #18

Needless to say, I like this Skyrim + MTG idea. I'd be down to help.

September 11, 2013 5:39 p.m.

Invisible Wall - 1W

Defender, Indestructible

0/1

Flavor: You cannot go that way

September 11, 2013 5:52 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #20

Love the flavor of that one. Make it WW insteqd of 1W.

September 11, 2013 6:20 p.m.

Nemesis says... #21

+10 points for invisible wall. I almost did a spit take, hahaha

September 11, 2013 6:20 p.m.

RickyHoeppner says... #22

Draugr Deathlord - 2BBB

Zombie Nord Overlord

6/3

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay BBB. If you do, search your library or graveyard for a Draugr creature with converted mana cost 3 or less and put it onto the battlefield tapped. You may do this as many times as you have the mana to pay for.

Flavor: "ARRAAAAAUUGHHHHHHH"

Cobthecobbler says... #23

I had an idea for this kind of thing a little bit ago. It revolved around Equipments and the return of Quest cards.

I was also trying to come up with a creature thats extremely malleable and you get to kind of pick and choose how to use it (Like creating your own character)

Here's some I came up with:

Dragonborn -- 1

Legendary Creature -- Dragonborn

When you cast ~, Choose one -- ~ comes into play with a +1+1 counter and can only be equipped with Heavy and Light permanents, or ~ comes into play with Hexproof and "Whenever an card equipped to ~ deals damage, it deals 2 more damage to that target."

1/2

Dragonbone Warhammer -- 4

Artifact -- Heavy Equipment

Equipped Creature gets +6/+2

Equip: 3

Dragonscale Chestplate -- 2

Artifact -- Light Equipment

**Equipped creature gets +0/+4 and "whenever this creature is dealt damage by an attacking creature an opponent controls, prevent up to 2 of that damage."

Equip: 4

Chain Lightning 4

Artifact -- Magic Equipment

**Equipped Creature gets "whenever this creature attacks, it may deal damage equal to its power to any amount of target creatures. Each additional creature passed the first takes one less point of damage."

I'm not sure on the wording for Chain Lightning, but it's supposed to go like this:

Equipped creature attacks, and uses the ability to deal damage to any number of targets. I choose 3 targets and my creature has a power of 4. I deal 4 to the first one, 3 to the second target, and 2 to the last target.

Not sure how to word that.

September 11, 2013 6:54 p.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #24

And then for magic, there would also be cards like Firebolt that directly burn creatures, hence the second choice for Dragonborn.

September 11, 2013 6:58 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #25

Stone of Barenziah

Artifact

Uncommon

3

Add 2 mana of any single color to your mana pool

Flavor text: "Bring unusual gem to an appraiser."

September 11, 2013 7:17 p.m.

Dritz says... #26

Dwarven Spider
Dwarven Sphere
Dwarven Centurion
The Forgemaster

I kinda made them on the spur of the moment. Hopefully they are flavorful and not ridiculous. I tried to make them a little better than average artifact creatures because shroud is an upside and a downside. I gave them that partially because my next best idea was Protection from Red (as they resist some elemental effects) and that would have gotten silly fast, so I went with what I did just for the fun.

September 11, 2013 11:25 p.m.

erabel says... #27

Hmmm... I wanna revisit the Daedric artifacts. Those things could make sick equipment.

Masque of Clavicus Vile

3

Legendary Artifact - Equipment

Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, draw two cards, then discard a card at random.

Equip 2

Ring of Hircine

4

Legendary Artifact - Equipment

Equipped creature gets +3/+1, can't be blocked except by two or more creatures, is a Werewolf in addition to its other types, and attacks each turn if able.

Equip 2

More flavor than power for me (if anyone else wants to power balance them, then go ahead).

September 12, 2013 12:48 a.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #28

@Dritz - The Forgemaster is crazy, but we have to save him for the Dawnguard expansion set. That's right. We'll make it a Skyrim BLOCK

September 12, 2013 12:58 a.m.

Dritz says... #29

Awww, yeah, Skyrim block! haha

September 12, 2013 1:03 a.m.

erabel says... #30

Skyrim block! Set names? Skyrim (obv), Dawnguard and Dragonborn? But fitting all the cool stuff into the one first set in the block would be tough, even if it were Large/Small/Small. And where would the 3-4 relevant things in Hearthfire go?

September 12, 2013 1:11 a.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #31

Relevant things in Hearthfire? What, adoption? I think that can be left out. The houses too

September 12, 2013 1:24 a.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #32

What if there was a crafting system implemented in here... Like, there are mana rocks... Oh, I'll just give an example:

Iron Ore -- 1

T: Add 1 to your mana pool

T, Sacrifice ~ and a "Leather Strips" artifact that you control: Put an artifact light equipment token called "Iron Dagger" onto the battlefield. It has "Equipped creature gets +2/+1. Equip 2"

And it follows that idea.

September 12, 2013 12:42 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #33

Dragon Bone -- 4

Mythic Rare

T: Add 1 to your mana pool

T and sacrifice with a "Ebony Ore" and "Leather Strips" you get an emblem saying "You gain protection from a color of your choice."

September 12, 2013 12:50 p.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #34

See, that's the idea! :D

September 12, 2013 12:52 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #35

as awesome as that is it might be difficult to pull off in a deck unless you ran 4 of each artifact lol

September 12, 2013 12:56 p.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #36

Lol well on the upside, they're mana rocks, so they ramp a little bit.

September 12, 2013 12:59 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #37

Leather Strips -- 1

Equipment

Equipped creature has "Pay 1: regenerate creature"

September 13, 2013 8:06 p.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #38

That works lol, maybe there should be a craft ingredient type that it can fall into, and it's a 0CMC artifact

September 13, 2013 8:49 p.m.

Dritz says... #39

I guess I forgot the 'and reveal it' bit on all the non-legendary automatons. haha

September 14, 2013 5:35 a.m.

megawurmple says... #40

I really like this idea. You could have certain organisations and guilds in certain colour combinations, a bit like the guilds of Ravnica.
I'm thinking something like this:

W/U: Thalmor Embassy
W/B: Thieves Guild
W/R: Imperial Legion
W/G: ?
U/B: Dark Brotherhood
U/R: College of Winterhold
U/G: ?
B/R: Daedra cult (worshippers etc.)
B/G: ?
R/G: Companions

What do you guys think? What would you change? What could fill the gaps?

By the way, Unforgivn_II, that made me laugh so hard!

September 14, 2013 8:22 a.m.

the potential to legend flood this set is huge, but here is my card

Khajiit Thief U3

creature- cat rouge

2, T- gain control of target equipment, this effect ignores hexproof and shroud

1/1

September 14, 2013 9:36 a.m.

HarbingerJK says... #42

W/G: Disciples of MaraB/G: The Forsworn U/G: Stormcloak Rebels

I'm just not entirely sure about U/G but the Stormcloaks are kinda of a necessity lol

September 14, 2013 9:49 a.m.

Dritz says... #43

As long as there isn't forced tribal affiliation both the Imperial Legion and the Stormcloak Rebels could both be R/W. (Especially since they were unfortunately so interchangeable when it came to actual gameplay in Skyrim.)

September 14, 2013 9:53 a.m.

HarbingerJK says... #44

this is true sadly lol but I feel like the Stormcloaks don't have a W/R vibe, ya know what I mean?

September 14, 2013 9:58 a.m.

megawurmple says... #45

That's why I didn't put Stormcloaks as R/W as well as the Imperials. Just look at Boros, for example: Boros is all about order and structure in the Legion, but the Stormcloaks don't really have that order to them.

September 14, 2013 10 a.m.

Dritz says... #46

I get what you're saying but what we are left with doesn't fit them better in my opinion. I think that they should be at least Red as they're entire existence is the rebellion. The last time there was a big 'rebel' matters thing they were White, but, saying that we don't do that for them this time the other colors do a poorer job of supplementing their identity, again IMO. R/G could work but it still seems a little off. R/B makes less sense to me as they aren't raiders or anything like that (not to mention that they are trying to liberate their nation/race/et cetera collectively which is more of a white thing). R/U makes less sense to me than the rest, that feels more like Wizards and such (obviously). Just Red kinda leaves them out and replacing Red or similar also doesn't make sense to me.

I feel like they both work alright in W/R in the same way that Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran and Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer both work in that color pair.

(Just a heads up, I get ramble-y in the mornings and its 7am here. Prime ramble times. haha)

September 14, 2013 10:07 a.m.

HarbingerJK says... #47

Let's not forget about Thu'ums tho

Unrelenting Force 2WW

Instant -- Thu'um

Creatures target player controls cannot attack or block this turn.

Fire Breath 2RR

Instant -- Thu'um

Fire Breath deals 5 damage to target creature or player.

And to support Thu'ums

Paarthurnax 2RGW

Legendary Creature -- Dragon

Flying 5/5

Thu'um spells you control cost 2 less to cast.

September 14, 2013 10:21 a.m.

megawurmple says... #48

Don't worry, I'm ramble-y most of the time. I see what you're saying, and that might be the best way to do it. What about the other colours though? I like the Forsworn in G/B, but I feel that the Disciples of Mara aren't really that important or prominent in the Skyrim storyline or gameplay. The slots we need to fill are G/U and W/G.

September 14, 2013 10:21 a.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #49

HarbingerJK - that's almost the same thing I thought of for Thu'ums. And if there is a Dragonborn PW, one of its alilities should be similar to Paarthurnax's. Maybe -X where X is the Thu'um's CMC, then cast it for free.

September 14, 2013 11:33 a.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #50

Also, for the Khajit rogue that bantam suggested, it could be worded as "take control of an equipment of your choice". That's how Clone gets around shroud/super shroud.
