Kratos, God of War

I tried to make him powerful enough to justify as a Commander or in the +99, without making him absurdly powerful.

Haste is an obvious choice. A 4/5 body is bulky enough to endure most combat. The fight mechanic was meant to resemble the quick-time events in his games, along with being rewarded for killing his foes.

As for his specific double strike against legendary permanents (worded this way as to reduce "double strike against legendary creatures and planeswalkers."), that felt like a very Kratos thing to do.

Only aspect I am not sold on is the mana cost and value. feels both justifiable, but also a little too steep for the design.

Basically you get a 4/5 haster who fights and draws cards when he attacks, if he survives. You'd need to build some degree of bulking in the deck for him to really kick that off, such as Voltron - which attributes a fair amount of Vorthos to the deck actually.

Something else I am considering is to trim down his mana value, while exemplifying his rage ().

Thoughts? Really would like input on this one. Thanks.

I didn't choose Mardu for two reasons: One, while Kratos is the God of War, he is far more of a destroyer then a warrior. Jund fits the destructive aspect far better, and justifies the fight mechanic. I could do , but the design doesn't showcase at all, which makes it an even harder sell then Mardu. And two, as mentioned, it's very difficult for me to justify in any context with this design.

Go for the line. I hadn't responded before because I don't know enough about God of War to judge it on source material faithfulness, but as a card, it looks good. I think he should either draw one card or Reckless Impulse at end of combat, because drawing two extra cards a turn would be too much at four mana and a hard push at five.
