Wait, where is Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor from?

Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor is a Commander growing in popularity, but I am very confused as to where she's being released... There are two Commander decks tied to Innistrad: Midnight Hunt.

Lynde is Grixis, so she can't be in either of these decks? Yet she has the appropriate set symbol?

So where is she being released? What product is she coming in?

I don't know the specifics but the Command Zone during their review of multicolored commanders mentioned she would be available in some kind of pack. It wasn't the normal boosters but one of the others.

She is only available in Set Boosters and Collector Boosters. Yes, this is kind of dumb, especially for something (a curse commander) players have been clamoring for with a fair degree of regularity.

So... why give her the Commander set symbol and not the Midnight Hunt one?

Or, at the very least, make her a bloody box topper? You know, like they did with that one Zilortha, Strength Incarnate card in Ikoria. This is just... silly. I hope this isn't going to develop into a growing trend, though I suspect it already has given that the next several sets are likely finished and awaiting printing, meaning the marketing and release are already planned as well.

I am guessing to indicate she is not legal in Standard, Modern, Historic, etc..

Why not just make Lynde an ordinary part of the regular set? I know that sets have a designated number of cards, but would adding one more break the system, especially if that one more doesn't really have anywhere else to go? And while reasonably powerful looking within its niche, I doubt it would break Sealed, Standard, or Modern. The stock answer is "because it gets them more money," but making it available in more boosters should mean that more boosters are being sold, even ignoring that many people will buy Lynde as a single.

My slight worry is that this is a back door way of announcing a new Commander Pack...

Hmmm... looks like my witches deck is going to get a new commander...

It's frustrating, as there's the Curse of Obsession and Visions of Ruin in red 'from' the Commander set, which means they'll likely only be in those sets, which means the curse will likely be expensive on the secondary market.

I was a little dismayed when a lot of the fun enchantments became curses that only affected one person, since I generally only play multiplayer, but this (potentially) brings it all around. Maybe there will be more torture-ey curses so Nekusar can ride shotgun in my Torture deck once in a while. He’s earned a rest.
