Thran Dynamo or Arcane Signet?

Commander Deck Help forum

Nearly every EDH deck that I have built contains a Thran Dynamo , because of how useful that card is, but I wonder if I should replace it with the new Arcane Signet from Throne of Eldraine, since that card has a lower mana cost and also can produce colored mana. On the other hand, three colorless mana every turn is quite powerful, so may not be worth giving up for only one colored mana.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace Thran Dynamo with Arcane Signet ?

Depends really. Does your deck need more fast mana? And what purpose does dynamo serve in the deck? I've only ever used dynamo in 2 decks. The first was a karn deck that used it for infinite mana. The second is a mairsil deck that uses it for infinite mana. I can't believe how much value I get out of such a silly card. But unless you need to play high cmc cards or are going infinite fast mana is probably more useful.

Those cards do entirely different things as far as I am concerned, so it all depends on the deck. Do you need cheap ramp/color fixing, or do you need big mana? I think a majority of the time I would do the signet, but dynamo 100% has its place in colorless and 1 color decks as well as in decks that want to get to 8-9 mana as quick as they can.

DrukenReaps, my EDH decks do tend to have high mana curves, so perhaps the dyanamo may be a better choice.

GhostChieftain, on the other hand, every EDH deck of mine is multicolored, so it is possible that the signet would be better.

or use both?

If the deck is very “mana intensive” and stronger late game, go dynamo, otherwise run signet.
