A great turn out of 15 players forced one of the associates to play a rental deck to make an even 16. I picked up Swarming Devotion, someone rented Budget Black Control, and the associate ran Communist Party.
I had a good talk with the guy who ran this after the event. He said the deck always felt close to winning and was fun to play despite its 1-2 record. First match was against RUG Tron where it came out fast and won game 1. After a lot of hate was brought in it fell games 2 and 3, mostly due to rolling thunder, enchantment hate, and CoP Red. Round 2 it ran up against Bogles which put out Armadillo Cloak on turn 3 in both games which shut the door completely. The last round it went up against Grixis Control and the opponent's lack of answers to a fast start combined with no way to remove enchantments paved the way for 2-1 victory.
We decided to make a few changes so that Incinerate could take Lightning Strikes place. We hope in the future, with the right pilot, a but of luck, and good matchups, the deck will see a winning record. But all in all it gets the renter their booster back making it $1 to have a lot of fun.
Stompy and Affinity both went 3-0 and were the top dogs of the day.
