Wilds of Eldraine Update —Sept. 2, 2023

-1 Kaya, Geist Hunter, +1 Obyra, Dreaming Duelist

With so much Faerie support arriving in Wilds of Eldraine, I had to think really hard about what pieces of it I wanted to include in this deck. I also had to balance out what slots I could realistically free up, and I came up with this edit. Kaya wasn't really doing much for the deck, and was mostly just acting as a one-turn token production doubler when I actually got her out. Obyra adds another win condition, which is definitely useful, plus she additionally lowers the overall curve of the deck, giving me something relevant to do on Turn 2 that isn't just another mana rock.

Have you seen that new card from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty yet? It's called The Reality Chip. MAN, talk about Ghost in the Shell! Just about any deck with blue can have this card. I use it in several: Aesi, broken Jhoira, Golos (now called Esika), and chaos Jhoira. It might soon find spots in my Bruvac big mill, Sen Triplets xerox plagurize, Bolas supervillans, and maybe even my Strawberry Fields Forever deck as a redundancy for Elsha. It's a stupid card. I just hope it doesn't end up warping the entire format around it like Paradox Engine did. If thing ends up getting banned, I think I might actually cry.

mtgApprentice21 Ultimately, the only Kamigawa card I decided to add was Farewell, simply because it does what Merciless Eviction does better. Reality Chip is interesting, and I have about three copies, but it's ultimately too slow for the purposes of this deck, and honestly Sensei's Divining Top does what it does better, as Top gives me a 1-mana Faerie every turn in addition to letting me filter out lands from the top of my library.
