Modern Horizons gave us Talisman of Creativity which is a nice replacement for Izzet Signet

May I suggest misdirection in place of dreadhorde arcainist. Arcainist is a terrible card if you don’t have it in your opening hand with a cantrip or other one mana spell, while misderiction is the only way stop an opposing dovins veto, and also a force of Will in a counter war. Also, chromatic lantern is a great to set up for a turn 4. You go: rock and cantrip, lantern,kess to get cantrip back or tutor for ad naus/ notion thief if you have wheel, win next turn through kess storm turn or ad naus. What I’m basically saying with the lantern is that a great way to develop your board on turn two while also looking unthreatening.

Dreadhorde acanist is like a second cheaper copy of Kess here. It lets us “flashback” all the one mana instants and sorceries including demonic consultation, so you can do the double consultation trick with it just like kess. Double lightning bolt to clear a bigger creature etc. it’s amazing in this deck

What about running young pyromancer and Talrand, Sky Summoner?
