Elemental Expressionist

Magecraft — Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, choose target creature you control. Until end of turn, it gains "If this creature would leave the battlefield, exile it instead" and "When you exile this creature, create a 4/4 blue and red Elemental creature token." (Each instance of that ability triggers separately.)

Orpheus124 and bushido_man96, I recently asked around about the potential Anhelo, the Painter / Elemental Expressionist interaction, and it doesn't seem like it will work. According to the person in one of my Discord servers, "Casualty is an extra cost as you cast it, like Village Rites. You won't be able to target the creature being sacrificed with Anhelo"

Thank you for the suggestion Orpheus124. I kinda forgot about Elemental Expressionist tbh. If I'm reading this correctly, would its ability be used to target tokens that get sacrificed to Casualty, and the token essentially replaces itself with a 4/4 elemental token?

I’m most excited for this commander over several others coming out! One card I think could prove valuable would be Elemental Expressionist. While Anhelo only gives your first instant or sorcery Casualty, the Expressionist seems like both an enabler for future Casualty and a payoff for when you copy spells with Casualty. Suits the Artist theme too!
