The Mimeoplasm

Legendary Creature — Ooze

As The Mimeoplasm enters the battlefield, you may exile two creature cards from any graveyard. If you do, it enters the battlefield as a copy of one of those cards with a number of additional +1/+1 counters on it equal to the power of the other card.

Gidgetimer on Should I Keep Consuming Aberration …

The Mimeoplasm seems like the type of deck that Consuming Aberration would thrive in. I would cut it from the other 2 decks.

I'm not sure how much my replacement suggestions are going to be to your liking since I feel like your decks need mana ramp and you have been resistant to that suggestion in the past. So I would add a talisman to each deck. Since they are replacing a UB creature Talisman of Dominance is the easy one to name off, but any from the "pain lands, but as artifacts" cycle would do. To fulfil your "preferably creatures" requirement I'd say Grand Abolisher in Sen Triplets and Plaguecrafter for Thraximundar.

DemonDragonJ on Should I Keep Consuming Aberration …

I have a copy of Consuming Aberration in three different EDH decks of mine: The Mimeoplasm deck, my Thraximundar deck, and my Sen Triplets deck, but I am wondering if I should keep it those decks; it is very useful in The Mimeoplasm deck, as that deck uses graveyards as resources, but the other two decks typically do not care very much about my opponents' graveyards, so I am wondering what other cards I could put into those decks in place of Consuming Aberration (preferably creatures with a mana value no greater than 5, so as not to raise the mana curves of those decks).

What does everyone else say about this subject? Should I keep Consuming Aberration in those decks, and, if not, what cards do you suggest as replacements for it?

I have replaced Behold the Beyond with Sidisi, Undead Vizier, which reduced the average converted mana cost of this deck from 3.76 to 3.73, because, while BtB was an awesome card, Sidisi is more useful, overall, since she has a lighter drawback, is easier to reanimate to use her ability repeatedly, and also has deathtouch, which shall allow her to put creatures into my opponents' graveyard, as I would prefer to plunder my opponents' graveyards with The Mimeoplasm, before I plunder my own.

DemonDragonJ on Which Card Should Replace Pain …

legendofa, that is actually a good point to consider, and I believe that it should not be too difficult to have a creature with 20 power in this deck, considering that Progenitus is already a 10/10 by default, but I think that I should wait for several more responses, before I make my final decision on this matter.

FormOverFunction, I almost put Titans' Nest in my The Mimeoplasm EDH deck, but its activated ability is slightly too strict in how the mana that it produces can be used.

Actually, how badly do I need Crystal Ball in this deck? It is a nice card, but scrying is rarely as good as direct card drawing, so, if I do not need that card, I can put both enchantments in the deck; does anyone else here think that that is a good idea?

DemonDragonJ on Should I Replace Visara the …

I have a copy of Visara the Dreadful in these two EDH decks, because she can destroy creatures for the generals of those decks to steal, but I wonder if she is the best possible way to do that, since I cannot both attack with her and then user her ability; each of those decks also does contain a copy of Seedborn Muse, but there is no guarantee that I shall draw both of those creatures in the same game, so Visara is rather a risky choice.

For my Teneb, the Harvester deck, I am considering Archfiend of Depravity, Archpriest of Shadows, or Indulgent Tormentor, and, for The Mimeoplasm deck, I am considering either Acidic Slime or Nemesis of Reason, because all of those creatures synergize with the themes of those decks.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I keep Visara the Dreadful in those decks, or replace her with other creatures, and, if I do, with what creatures should I replace her?

I have replaced Favor of the Overbeing, Gift of the Deity, and Helm of the Ghastlord, which decreased the average converted mana cost of this deck from 3.85 to 3.82, which is very nice, since those cards better match the theme of this deck; in particular, Altar of Dementia gives me an additional way to put creatures into my graveyard and also make my opponents put creatures into their own graveyards, for The Mimeoplasm to copy.

I can assure you that The Mimeoplasm plays very differently from Slimefoot and Squee due to its nature and the difference between Jund and Sultai. For example, the reason why I was thinking about Titan of Industry and Woodfall Primus is that I consider them analogs to each other between these two decks. I've already mentioned why I think Woodfall Primus is a good fit for S&S, but I find its Persist annoying in Mimeoplasm because how it interacts when The Mimeoplasm eats it. On the other hand, The Mimeoplasm's method of "reanimation" may be powerful and uniquely avenue opening, it only works once, and whatever I've committed to it is gone. I much prefer the Titan of Industry here for its slightly better stats and combat ability, and its flexibility of ETB options (ESPECIALLY the shield counter to ensure you're making your investment count).

If Doomgape doesn't work out and you're still in the market for big lifegain in a pinch, I did remember that Momentous Fall exists.

Thank you Cornonjacob07!

Yeah I have a bit of a rep in my playgroup for having mostly graveyard decks. I've embraced it at this point. Necromancy is my jam. Funnily enough I was thinking of building The Mimeoplasm next as I am still missing a sultai deck in my collection. My only worry is that it may end up too similar to this one. But I'll have to get to brewing to find out if I can make it different enough from my current decks.

From your suggestions I actually very much like Titan of Industry and Doomgape. I just finished updating my deck and currently don't know what I would cut for them, but I will definitely put them on my watch list. I love the flexibility of Titan and I've wanted a way to gain life in a pinch in the deck so Doomgape could fit that role. I could put in Kokusho instead for lifegain, but I kept that one out deliberately.
