Hesitation

Enchantment

When a spell is played, sacrifice Hesitation. If you do, counter that spell.

AwesomeJMS5 I currently have Hesitation in the deck. Building around a sac combo is something that could be interested in pursuing. Specifically witt Altar of Dementia because I could turn it into a mill opponent win con. I did have someone else recommend Primal Surge and I know it would be strong but I don't want to break my rule.

Hey, your Muldrotha deck is pretty cool, and i like the theme of permanents only, which obviously works well with her. I have a few ideas you could consider for your deck, though.

Hesitation is a really annoying enchantment that you can recast to slow your opponents down.

A sacrifice outlet for your creatures would probably work well for you, too. Like Ashnod's Altar for mana, and Altar of Dementia for further building your graveyard or someone else's.

Finally, if you wanted a really powerful card and wanted to kinda break your rule, you could consider adding Primal Surge. That would basically put your entire deck into play, or as much as you wanted.

Thank you for the comment, aznb01777.

Hesitation runs into a similar problem to Lunar Force . You shouldn't think of it as a "counter" necessarily, because it never counters something you want it to. In that case, the card is more like a two mana stax piece that forces one opponent to waste some small amount of mana and a card from their hand: not particularly powerful. Unlike Lunar Force, however, if your opponents choose not to cast spells, this stax piece could hinder you as well. Because of this, along with the fact that you must have Muldrotha on the board to make good use of this card, I personally do not recommend the card for most Muldrotha lists.

Additionally, the card falls into a category of cards in which the average impact is less than the amount of hate directed towards you. In other words, the card draws too much attention to yourself for its own good. If you like the effect of Hesitation and want to still play a good political game, I would recommend Standstill instead. The card is much more unlikely to make enemies, and can still achieve a solid stax effect.

Hesitation would be an annoying counter to deal with in this deck

Nice! +1

Standstill depending on your meta might buy you a few turns or at least draw you some cards. Very good paired with Narset. Hesitation along those same lines.

As Foretold can be a great way to start free casting counters, then you spend mana on draw and wincons.

Arcane Laboratory might be used to "counter" any extra spells people have. You only have to worry about one spell a turn.

Mystic Remora and Rhystic Study seem like odd exclusions... any reason why you don't have them?

Lands: You mana base can use some work. Myriad Landscape can help ramp if you sacrifice turn 1. Boseiju, Who Shelters All can help prevent counter wars. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx breaks even with azami but might not be great...

That's all I can think of! I built a Baral deck a while back: Mr. Blue Sky | Baral EDH. Check it out, you might find something you like!

Muldrotha is so much fun to play with, and she provides so many unique builds! I love seeing other Muldrotha lists, as they help me see different play patterns that I hadn't thought of. Like your inclusion of Hesitation . I've had that card for years, and never played it; now it can have a home! Kudos!
