Strionic Ressonator + Parallel thoughts (or Mangara's Tome)

Asked by pedroedmarcos 6 years ago

Hey, first time here.Guys, I was wondering, If I use Strionic Resonator on Parallel Thoughts or Mangara's Tome does those cards creates 2 piles that I can draw from them? Also, If I use something to flick Parallel Thoughts, when it returns to the battlefield can I still draw from the original pile?

To the first question: yes, that works. Both Parallel Thoughts and Mangara's Tome have a special type of ability called "linked abilities". One of the detailed rules for linked abilities says that a copy of one of them will also be part of the linked relationship. In your example that means the last ability of Thoughts/Tome can get a card from either of the piles exiled by the first ability or the copy.

To the second question: no, that doesn't work. When a card changes zones, the game treats it as a completely new object with no relation to what it was before (there are a few exceptions, mostly needed to make certain effects work properly, but they don't apply here). In your example, this means the last ability of the "new" Thoughts/Tome is only linked to the first ability of the "new" object. It can't access the cards exiled by the "old" object.

Thank's. Also, do I have to reveal the cards when I exile them? I mean, while I'm selecting the cards that will be exiled.

No, you don't need to reveal them unless the effect specifically says so. Parallel Thoughts and Mangara's Tome don't say anything like that. Usually you're only made to reveal cards you get from a library if you're supposed to pick ones with specific qualities (a land, a red card, something that costs 2 or less, etc.) so everyone can make sure you did it correctly.
