Split Second and keeping Priority

Asked by Temporal_Inept 5 years ago

If I am the active player, and have a spell that I don't want countered can I cast it, maintain priority and then cast a spell with split second say Angel's Grace? If I understand correctly, Angel's Grace resolves giving me priority which means the first spell I cast also resolves.

Is this correct?

You can hold priority and cast a spell with split second, however this accomplishes nothing in regard to the first spell. Objects on the stack resolve one at a time. So while they can not counter the first spell while Angel's Grace is on the stack, they still get priority again before the initial spell resolves and can counter it at this time.
