Spectra Ward question

Asked by sup3rskrull 9 years ago

If I equip Spectra Ward on my creature would he be protected from opponent's attacks and spells like instant or sorcery? I don't understand what the cards says "protection"

The card describes right on it what it means.

"It can't be blocked, targeted, or dealt damage by anything that's white, blue, black, red or green"

That means that their creatures can't block it, their spells can't target it, and if you block their creatures, they can't deal damage to it. Note also that it includes YOU being unable to do the same.

Spectra Ward 's reminder text (the italic text in its text box) literally states what protection means.

The enchanted creature can't be blocked, targeted, or dealt damage by anything that's white, blue, black, red, or green.

Colored equipment that is attached to the enchanted creature becomes unattached. Auras remain on the creature because Spectra Ward 's effect allows them to, but normally Auras would also fall off.

No player may do any of the things prevented by protection. Protection is not like hexproof. You can't enchant, equip, target, or damage your own protected permanents with sources of the protected-against quality.

What about Spectra Ward reading "Enchanted creature get..." so could you target Spectra Ward itself with Deicide (not targeting the creature, but the enchantment )?

@pulsipherj: Once a question has been marked answered for several days, ask a new one instead of replying to the old conversation.

Spectra Ward doesn't have any protection for itself. It only confers protection to the enchanted creature, and abilities don't extend from creatures to any permanents attached to those creatures. You may, therefore, target Spectra Ward with Deicide .
