Rest in Peace, always confusing

Asked by michaelehrlich 7 years ago

If an active rest in peace is sacrificed along with other cards do to a mass sacrifice effect, curse of the cabal, would all of the sacrificed cards be exiled? Could you order them into the grave after the rest in peace to have them hit the grave?

rest in peace1W When Rest in Peace enters the battlefield, exile all cards from all graveyards. If a card or token would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it instead

curse of cabal9B Target player sacrifices half the permanents he or she controls, rounded down. Suspend 2-2BB At the beginning of each player's upkeep, if Curse of the Cabal is suspended, that player may sacrifice a permanent. If he or she does, put two time counters on Curse of the Cabal.

10/1/2012 If Rest in Peace is destroyed by a spell, Rest in Peace will be exiled and then the spell will be put into its owners graveyard.

Rest in Peace will exile itself and all other permanents being sacrificed because they are all leaving play at the same time. However, Curse of the Cabal will end up in its owner's graveyard because it has to completely resolve first, which would put it going to the grave after everything has already been sacrificed. Hope this helped!

If you put a card name between double [ ] brackets, you get the linked spell name.
Rest in peace between double brackets becomes:
Rest in Peace
