Prey Upon + Deathtouch

Asked by VynnRook 8 years ago

So, my question I think is fairly simple. I'm using a creature with deathtouch in my deck, and someone used a Prey Upon to fight that creature. When he realized that the creature that he targeted had deathtouch neither of us were sure if the deathtouch rule applies to the fight. I thought it might, considering deathtouch explicitly says that even 1 point of damage dealt is enough to destroy a creature, but we weren't sure. Any judges or anyone who can shed some light? I know that Viridian Longbow and any death touch creature creates a 1 tap destruction machine. Is this the same?

Indeed, since the fight mechanic causes the creatures to deal damage to each other, even 1 deathtouch damage is enough to kill the opposing creature. The text for deathtouch says "all damage dealt by this creature is considered lethal damage".

Sidenote: Asking specifically for judges to answer your question is not a good idea, since there are many knowledgeable users on the site and you cannot verify if someone is actually a judge.

@Boza Thanks for clarifying the point, I was pretty sure that it was that way, but again, for safe sake (And to prevent the magic argument, we decided to let Tapped out decide.

I didn't mean to suggest that there weren't knowledgeable users on-site who weren't judges.
