Is this infinite combo legal in EDH?

Asked by Madaraximundar 8 years ago

I witnessed an extort deck performing this infinite combo: My opponent played Tatterkite and his commander Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. The next turn, Blasting Station was played. He used Blasting Station to sac Tatterkite for 1 damage. However, because Tatterkite does not get counters, and with undying, Mikaeus' undying cycle reset. He continued the infinite damage of tapping Blasting Station to sac Tatterkite, Tatterkite coming back, Blasting Station untapping, rinse and repeat. The combo was correctly played, but is this infinite combo legal in EDH?

Yes, why wouldn't it be?

I wasn't sure. I didn't know if the legality of a combo itself was different than the legality of the cards used in it. I've used an "infinite combo" in my decks only twice, and both were accidentally finds after the deck was completed.

There's no rule in place that restricts how you're allowed to interact with cards and combos in your deck. As long as your cards in the combo aren't banned themselves, go for it.
