If you have First strike or Double strike on a creature and it has abilities that activate from doing damage whether to a player or a creature, do they resolve before the second damage step?

Examples of the cards I'm curious about are as follows: Shockmaw Dragon, creatures with life link or death touch, Archangel of Thune, Oros, the Avenger, etc.

Of course the Archangel is because of gaining life and then the ability putting counters on my creatures going off.

Ok sorry, I forgot I already asked a question similar to this for Archangel of Thune, so I know that works. I'm not entirely sure about the rest of it though.

When you enter combat, if any creatures have First Strike or Double Strike, two combat damage phases are performed. The First phase deals with First Strike and Double Strike, the second phase deals with Normal damage and Double Strike. There is a round of priority between each phase.

When a creature deals combat damage to a player, any on damage abilities will trigger and go on the stack. They will resolve (unless countered) before entering the second combat damage phase.

Thanks, yet again i was a little unsure on the topic. On another note if any of those creatures have lifelink and Archangel of Thune is on the battlefield. How does that resolve in the case of Ashmouth Hound. Would it go something along the lines of: I declare Ashmouth Hound as attacking they declare a blocker, right after the declare blockers step and before the first combat damage step, Ashmouth Hound is considered as blocked and his ability kicks off and would gain me one life, then as a result of that Archangel of Thune would put a +1/+1 counter on each one of my creatures and all of this is before the first damage step would occur.

Is this how it would play out?

Pretty much yes.

At the end of each phase, there is a round of priority. After Ashmouth is declared blocking, the ability goes on the stack. As long as you have given it Lifelink, when it deals the 1 point of damage, Archangel will trigger, and upon resolving give all your creatures +1/+1 counter.

Ok, so what if Ashmouth Hound is being blocked, same principle?.
