If I bestow Hypnotic Siren on Humble Defector does it negate the defection?

Asked by WARPOPE 9 years ago

Hypnotic Siren bestow text reads "you control enchanted creature"

It depends on when it was bestowed. If it was bestowed after the defection, then yes. If it was bestowed before, then still yes, but that won't stop the Defector from... well, defecting, when its ability resolves.

If it defects and then you Bestow it, then you will gain control of it again. It has to do with time stamps and the way the game state sees control of Humble Defector.

Time stamp 1: You control it. You activate the ability, draw 2 cards.

Time stamp 2: The opponent gains control of the Defector after the ability resolves.

Time stamp 3: You cast Hypnotic Siren on your Defector, thus re-gaining control of it.

Hope that made sense to you.
