How does Master Biomancer counters work?

Asked by shinoby8 7 years ago

I was playing commander with a friend and he had a Master Biomancer o the field and every time he played a creature he added +1/+1 counters on it. As the card says ADDITIONAL counters, doesn't the creature need to enter the field with counters in order for the Biomancer's to trigger?

No, it will give counters to a creature that enters with none normally. It's templated the way it is because it is a replacement effect not a ETB/cast trigger.

The word 'additional' is so that players will know that the effect is cumulative with other effects (like Sage of Fables or Festerhide Boar), instead of an overriding effect.

Biomancer works with all creatures.
