How cascade interact with cards like Scion of Draco

Asked by pedroedmarcos 1 year ago

Hey there,

This may be an extremely newbie question, but let's say that I caused damage with Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder. If I cast Scion of Draco from my hand, will I cascade for a card that cost less than 12 or will be a card that cost less than the ammount that I payed?

Cascade looks at the mana value (previously referred to as converted mana cost) which is generally going to be the full cost of the card. Mana value does not change even if there are cost reduction effects (there are a few situations where mana value might change on a card, such as split cards, but those are not relevant to your question).

For Scion of Draco, that will be 12, even if there were cost reductions in play. So, even if you had a cost reduction of and cast it for , your cascade would look for a spell with an 11 or less mana value.
