gaining control of commanders with Sliver Overlord and Amoeboid Changeling?

If I was going to fetch for an Amoeboid Changeling with sliver overlord could I thennext turn tap the Amoeboid Changeling giving an opponents commander sliver creature type then gaining control of it using sliver overlord

Yes. You can gain indefinite control of a target creature by doing this; Sliver Overlord's ability second doesn't have a defined duration for the effect.
