"Flash" in Archon of Valor's Reach vs Wrath of God

If I have a way to flash in, or somehow cast Archon of Valor's Reach in response to my opponent casting Wrath of God , can I effectively shut down the Wrath of God by choosing "Sorcery" spells on its ETB?
Just trying to find a cheaper answer to board wipes than Avacyn, Angel of Hope as is often used in NAYA BIG BEATDOWN decks.....

Nope.
When Wrath of God is on the stack, it's already cast.
By casting Archon of Valor's Reach after, (when you have priority, it has resolved, and you choosing "sorcery"), you've effectively wasted it. Wrath of God is already on the stack and is going to resolve unless you can counter it.
