Elemental Mastery + Mana Echoes
Asked by carpecanum 11 years ago
If I tap a 5 power creature enchanted with Elemental Mastery
and Mana Echoes
is out, assuming no other elementals are on the field, does each elemental generate mana for each other elemental? (in this case 20 mana).
He'll get 20 if the creature enchanted with Elemental Mastery isn't itself an elemental, 25 if it is.

With a 5 power creature that is 5 tokens entering, Since the ruling on Mana Echoes says you get to count the creature that triggered it you get 5 mana each for the 5 elementals thatentered making it 25 mana.

if the creature enchanted with Elemental Mastery is an elemental, and 5 elementals are entering the battlefield, wouldn't that mean there are 6 elementals, making it 6 mana? So, 6 mana for 5 creatures entering the battlefield would be 30 colorless mana, right? or did I miss something?

The creature that was enchanted wasn't an elemental i worded my original response in a confusing manner but luckily carpecanum understood what i was trying to say.

ok, I saw Devonin say it would be 25 if the enchanted creature was an elemental too, and then saw your response at #4 and I just kind of misread it because I thought you were reiterating what devonin said. That's what led to the confusion, because I was thinking, wait wouldn't that be 6 creatures with Mana Echoes triggering 5 times.

There is a ruling on the card that says:
10/4/2004: You do get to count the creature itself, you even get one mana if it is the only creature you have on the battlefield (assuming it has at least one creature type).
Since you get to add 1 mana for itself it follows that you add 1 mana for any other creature that entered at the same time. Also since you do get a mana for itself you get 25 colorless mana not 20. If it read "for each other creature that shares a type with it" is when you wouldn't get a mana off of the creature itself entering.
