Dose Mycosynth Golem work on X costs

Asked by conanhun 9 years ago

I'm working on a deck and was wanting to know if Mycosynth Golem add to X costs in artifact creatures like Shifting Wall

How X in costs works is: You decide on what you're setting X to. Then, to figure out the mana cost, you start with X, add any additional costs (say, Feroz's Ban is in play), then subtract cost reductions (like affinity). Then you pay the costs you figured out you need to pay.

Affinity does not "add" to X. It means you pay less mana for your X cost without having to set a lower X. There's a difference.

You cast Shifting Wall and determine the value for X=10. You have a Mycosynth Golem on the battlefield, and 9 other artifact, which would be 10 artifacts in total. You pay 0 Mana and Shifting Wall enters the battlefield with 10 counters on it.
