Does unsubstaniate go infinte with other cards if I have three mana.

Asked by TUMTUM 7 years ago

So I built a commander deck with unsubstantiate in it. So could I cast a Reach Through Mists with 2 mana up then cast Unsubstantiate and get it back? Then, next turn (I will have infinite turns with this deck) can I do it again?

I'm not sure whether I understand what you're trying to do here. If you cast Reach Through Mists, then respond with Unsubstantiate, the Reach through Mists will be put back into your hand before it starts resolving. You won't draw a card, and Unsubstantiate will be in your graveyard. Could you give some more details on what you intend to do with these cards?

I am also confused. Worth noting that spells can not target themselves on the stack.
You can't Unsubstantiate your Unsubstantiate to return it to your hand, so it can't go infinite that way either.

However, if you're looking for a similar trick, look for cards with a "when you cast" trigger.

Like casting Vacuumelt and paying the replicate cost a few times, then casting Unsubstantiate on the original spell, return it to your hand, and then do it again next turn.

If you bounce a spell it won't resolve in the first place, so there's no real point doing it your own stuff, unless as said above you are copying the spell you are casting.
