Does one Exile spell cancel out another Exile spell?

Asked by beast_of_war 6 years ago

If my opponent plays Kitesail Freebooter and exiles one of my spells, can I Cast Out the freebooter and get my spell back, or do I have to destroy/ kill the freebooter to get it back?

Kitesail Freebooter specifies that you get the card back when it "leaves the battlefield", which means that any time it's moved off the battlefield, whether it dies, is exiled, returned to hand, shuffled into library, anything, you get the card back. So yes, if you use Cast Out on it you'll get your card back.

Keep in mind however, that should your opponent destroy your Cast Out, they will get their Kitesail Freebooter back and it will exile a card again.

Yes if you use Cast Out on the Kitesail Freebooter you would get your exiled card back but if they destroy or exile your Cast Out their Kitesail Freebooter would come back and then they will exile one of your cards again.
