Does Metallic Mimic trigger Edgar Markov's ability?

If I play a Metallic Mimic and choose Vampire for it's creature type, will my commander Edgar Markov's ability trigger and put a 1/1 Vampire token on the battlefield?

Oops, not a Construct. A Shapeshifter. Sorry, I forgot to re-read the card carefully before I started answering.

It won't trigger Edgar Markov. When you first cast Metallic Mimic as a spell it's just a Construct. You don't choose the creature type for its first ability until the spell resolves and the Mimic is about to enter the battlefield. This means it isn't yet a Vampire at the time Edgar's ability checks to see if it should trigger.
