Summoning sickness prevents a creature from attacking or activating abilities whose cost includes the tap () or untap () symbols. It does not prevent static abilities, triggered abilities, or activating abilities that have a cost that doesn't include the tap or untap symbols. Abilities that require tapping or untapping without using the symbols are unaffected by summoning sickness, even if you tap the creature they are on to pay the cost. So Nullmage Shepherd or Heritage Druid can have their abilities activated by tapping creatures with summoning sickness, including themselves.
