Do you get a Zombie when Overseer of the Damned enters the field?

If you destroy an Opponent Creature when Overseer of the Damned enters the field do you get a Zombie?

It seems to me as though you would because the Overseer of the Damned is already on the field, so it "sees" the Opponent Creature die.

Yes, you do get a Zombie. That's kind of the point of the card. :)

Though note that, if you're playing a Commander game, destroying a Commander with the Overseer's enters-the-battlefield ability won't usually get you a Zombie, because a Commander being put into the command zone isn't considered to "die" (which means being put into the graveyard from the battlefield). That's one common wrinkle in how this particular sort of ability works.

Thanks for the heads up on that, Drilnoth.

I was planning to kill a Commander with that ability.

It also requires the overseer to still be around, if it's killed in response to its own etb trigger you won't get a zombie.
