Do Sage of Hours counters come back with Door of Destinies?

I have a human deck. If I was to get 5 charge counters on Door of Destinies and remove the 5 resulting counters from Sage of Hours and take another turn, would the counters come back right away? Would they come back when I play another human? Or would they be gone for good, forcing me to put another 5 humans on the battlefield until I can use the ability again?

Door of Destinies doesn't put any counters on any creatures. It puts charge counters on itself, and then it confers a static +X/+X buff that scales with the number of charge counters currently on Door of Destinies .
This buff is exactly that -- a static buff. Sage of Hours 's second ability requires you to remove five +1/+1 counters, which are different from static buffs.
