Dimir Keyrune + cypher

Asked by alphaword1283 11 years ago

I suppose we won't know fully until the question is answered by WotC but can anyone tell me if a Dimir Keyrune encoded by cypher card, say Whispering Madness , will remain encoded at the end of the turn after he loses his creature typing. that is to say, the next turn I activate him and he strikes the opponent, will he or will he not cast a copy of the spell in spite of temporarily not being a creature. Thanks to all in advance. Love this place :-)

In everything we know about the mechanic so far, there's nothing in Cipher that says the card is only encoded as long as the creature remains a creature. The card will stay encoded to the keyrune.

As long as Dimir Keyrune is a creature when you cast a spell with cipher then it should remain on the keyrune as long as the keyrune remains in play. Obviously you would have to continuously turn your keyrune into a creature to get any use out of it.
