Dimir Keyrune + cypher

Asked by alphaword1283 1 year ago

I suppose we won't know fully until the question is answered by WotC but can anyone tell me if a Dimir Keyrune encoded by cypher card, say Whispering Madness, will remain encoded at the end of the turn after he loses his creature typing. that is to say, the next turn I activate him and he strikes the opponent, will he or will he not cast a copy of the spell in spite of temporarily not being a creature. Thanks to all in advance. Love this place :-)

In everything we know about the mechanic so far, there's nothing in Cipher that says the card is only encoded as long as the creature remains a creature. The card will stay encoded to the keyrune.

As long as Dimir Keyrune is a creature when you cast a spell with cipher then it should remain on the keyrune as long as the keyrune remains in play. Obviously you would have to continuously turn your keyrune into a creature to get any use out of it.
