Can someone Krenko in response to a tabernacle effect?

Can someone respond to triggers on Pendrell Mists with something like Krenko, Mob Boss without penalty, or would all the created tokens be subjected to the tax as well on the same turn?

The tokens won't be subject to the "tax" this turn.

Note that the up-to-date Oracle text for Pendrell Mists has been clarified to say that the ability triggers at the beginning of the upkeep step. Creating the tokens after the beginning of the upkeep has already happened won't make the game back up and re-start the step. The ability on those tokens won't trigger this turn.
