Can Rage Forger proc after Dethrone does?

I'm thinking of making a Marchesa, the Black Rose deck, will her dethrone ability process before Rage Forger's ability to do an extra 1 point of damage for each attacking creature?

Sadly, no. The ability on Rage Forger only triggers at the moment that you declare a creature as an attacker. If you were to attack the player with the highest life total with a creature without a +1/+1 counter, dethrone would trigger and give it a counter. However, at the time that you attacked, the creature had no counter (it won't get one until the dethrone trigger resolves), so Rage Forger will not trigger.

On an unrelated note, notice that the ability from Rage Forger doesn't care about the number of +1/+1 counters on a creature, it will always deal 1 damage, so attacking that player with a creature that has a counter will result in it getting one additional counter, but it won't result in Rage Forger's trigger dealing one additional damage.

Note that nothing procs in Magic.

A proc is a programmed random occurrence. It's something that has a nonzero, but non-guaranteed chance of happening.

Magic has triggers, which are guaranteed to happen at specified times.
