Can Progenitor Mimic be a land generator?
Asked by Kathoran 9 years ago
Okay, I have Progenitor Mimic enter the battlefield copying a land animated by Hydroform . From my understanding, the mimic will not copy the 3/3 creature but instead be a land. So, the question is will the mimics ability still put another copy of the land into play, or will it fizzle since the land is obviously not a creature?

Note that only spells or abilities with targets can fizzle. "To fizzle" is to be countered by the game rules for having zero remaining legal targets. A spell or ability only targets if it specifically uses the word "target."

Would it work the same way if you animated a Mutavault ?

Okay, so then what would happen if you did everything that was said above, and then on your next turn you put out another mimic copying your previous mimic??
And I apologize if I'm supposed to start a new thread for all these questions

You will need to animate the first Progenitor Mimic before you can copy it. Assuming you do, you'll end up with a second copy that has two of the token-making abilities.

Yes, you are correct. Clone will only copy the values on the card. It won't even have a Power or tougness for that turn.
it will also have the second ability which will put copies of itself(in this case, your land) onto the battlefield.
