Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver

Asked by NDR700 9 years ago

When a creature you gained control of with Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver 's -2 ability dies, does it go to a graveyard or back to exile. If it goes to a graveyard, which one?

Since Ashiok's ability doesn't give you any special instructions for what to do when the creature dies, you do what you would normally do: the creature goes to its owner's graveyard (your opponent's graveyard).

The "owner" of a card is whoever started the game with the card in their deck or sideboard. This is not necessarily the same person as the "controller", as we can see in this example (your opponent owns the creature, but you were controlling it). It's impossible for a card to be in the library, hand, or graveyard of a player who isn't its owner.
