Animate Dead + Flicker

Asked by CMGraves 6 years ago

If I Animate Dead enchanting a creature and I flicker say with Sudden Disappearance, it is my understanding that the both the creature and Animate Dead will return at the end step and Animate Dead can now be used to enchant another creature in my graveyard. Is this correct?

Yes that's right. When the two cards change zones (battlefield to exile) the game treats them as new objects and they don't have their previous relationship to one another. When they return to the battlefield the creature won't have Animate Dead attached to it and Animate Dead will enter attached to a different card in a graveyard (which will then be brought to the battlefield). In fact, Animate Dead be attached to something else, even if for some reason you don't want to do that.

When an aura is entering the battlefield and it isn't being cast as a spell, you have to choose a legal object to attach it to as it enters. If there are any legal objects at all then you have to choose one of them, but if there aren't any legal objects then the aura stays in whatever zone it was trying to move out of (in this case, exile).
