2x Scourge of Skola Vale OTB. , Counters Could go to other Hydra?

as question originally said: (expanded if you need it to be)

2x Scourge of Skola Vale On The Battlefield. (Non-Sum-Sickness) (Both Tap-able)

Can I and use 1st Hydra's ability. (Sac A 3rd random Creature for X/X Toughness total)

But add the +1/+1 counters to the other Hydra (also named Scourge.......Vale?)

I don't see why it couldn't, It doesn't target a creature, just the name of "Scourge..... Vale". Right?

If not, Is it a MTG rule that stops this?

Whenever an ability references it's source or says its own name in the ability, it literally means "this card you activated the ability from." If it said "put counters on a creature you control named X..." then it would work as you ask.

Rules backup for Squiggle's answer

201.4. Text that refers to the object its on by name means just that particular object and not any other objects with that name, regardless of any name changes caused by game effects.
