Tagging Users

So the syntax page tells you to tag a user using the following method:

[[user:yeaGO!]]

However I've noticed that alternatively the following also work:

[[user:yeaGO]]
[[yeaGO]]

Notice the missing ! on the first alternative.

My question: What's the difference? Does it matter? Does not including the exclamation point make it so that the user isn't notified that their name is being tagged in a post?

Just curious.

TMBRLZ, I personally only tag with [ [ name ] ], and it works just fine.

If there's a card with the same name as a user, then

[[name]]
will return the card instead of the user.

I'm not sure which get priority between a user and deck with the same name though.

Yeago used to have an ! on his name, so that's why the example is like that.

It's better to use the user: syntax, in case a deck/card/user share a name.

But yes, the shortcut exists.

Priority is deck > card > user.

The tagging should be exactly what is seen in that user's profile url. Punctuation doesn't appear in urls, so it wouldn't matter regardless.
