So many feature decks

TappedOut forum

I literally NEVER want to feature a deck of mine anymore. It's getting so ridiculous that the minimum number of featured decks usually hovers around 12ish, and I do not want to waste my feature tokens knowing whichever decks I feature will see relatively little time as the 'cycled' (or whatever you want to call it) deck on the home page. I am sure there are others who share my sentiment.

If others feel the same way as I do, this does represent a problem not only for the users, but the recipients of the money generated by the users. If people don't use what feature tokens they have, they won't buy more. Sure, the increased number of users on the site mitigates the loss very well, but it is still potential profit lost. If there is a way, especially a simple way, to make more money, why not do it?

This is my proposal: Add a second space next to the existing spot for THE Featured Deck on the home page. This will make it to where users will see two featured decks at once, meaning all the decks will see twice as much air time; as a result, they will get more comments, votes, etc., and those who feel the same way about this as I do will buy more feature tokens, bringing in more bacon for you. Bacon is good.

Metal which community do you belong to? Reddit? Or Imgur?

Neither. I used to frequent /b/ frequently, but I grew tired of it and now live out my days as an old but humble troll and part-time comedian. I am a nuclear physicist as my main hobby. I might become a nuclear physician one day.

Also, I agree with the original post. There are far too many on there so I've resorted to adding a bunch and using my tokens while I have them but after I burn them I won't be buying more.

I support this Post, I'm currently saving my tokens but I'd spend them if this was implemented, then proceed to buy more.

is that really the magic bullet here though?

What do you guys think about featuring lasting less than 48 hours? Do you feel like you get most of the attention you need in the first 8-24 hours and then can ride off of conversation for the next day?

I see this as kind-of a Supply and Demand problem. Right now there's too much demand. So you've got to soak up supply somehow, either by making it expire faster or by making it more expensive, or something else.

Also, what about a juke box system.

-Pay a token and it will feature when its ready.-Pay two tokens to fast-track it and feature it immediately.

For the juke box deal, how long would they be featured?

And I do feel that 24 hours is good enough. I thought that's what it already was, and I'm pretty sure it was that length when I joined. I still feel that adding the second slot for a feature deck would be the best solution. It cycles through the decks at a different rate or starts at a different spot in the list, that way all of the decks see twice as much time in the spotlight. Everything else can remain the same.

I always feel that if a deck is featured, the user has a good feeling that it is somehow unique or potent, which are both good reasons for me to look at it. If I were to see two decks up on the featured slots, I'd probably check them both out if they intrigued me. That's twice as many decks as I would think about looking at from the featured selection.

Also, what if someone paid two tokens for the fast-track feature, and then somebody came right behind them and did the same thing, bumping them off?

Perhaps a dynamic list of decks? For example, have a feature slot in the header next to the site logo that cycles all decks in the feature queue in real-time. This will give everything more exposure.

That is another possible solution. Anything to get more exposure would be awesome.

Something like what Epoch suggests is possible. Honestly I am a bit hamstrung when it comes to sticking two up top because I need a designer to actually lay these things out in a way that makes sense, instead of yeago just throwing in random things, which is how things usually go.

I will shorten it to 24 hours. That will get people exposure but decks won't linger on the list. I will also see about adding a slider like Epoch describes.
