Editing a Post

TappedOut forum

It seems that a user cannot edit a post that they make after making it, apart from the initial post in a thread. Why is that? What if they made a mistake that they wish to correct? Is there a way to edit one's posts after making them?

Upgraded users get 5 minutes after posting to edit.

Also, that's what the preview screen is for. I have no sympathy for people who don't proof their own posts even when given a chance to do so.

You can edit comments up to five minutes after they've been posted, I believe.

Epochalyptik; I definitely proofread every post that I make before posting it, as I was an English major in college (before changing to history and then to technical support), so I definitely understand the importance of proofreading. However, it is always possible that one may notice a mistake, later, and need to fix it, but not until after it is too late, which seems to be very odd, to me; it would not be too difficult to alter this forum to allow continuous editing of posts, would it?

The point of the limited editing window is to preserve possible "incident" posts and any trade offers, but still give people the opportunity to fix errors they saw as they hit post or add afterthoughts.

Yes, that does make sense, and I suppose that it could be a useful feature to have on this forum.
