Wanting to build a deck for a friend, need some help

Back when aether revolt spoilers started up and the mono red legend was still missing being spoiled my friend really wanted the Scrapper Champion to be her cos he loves the art, then it ended up being Kari who he still loves and so do i (Off topic but does anyone know a good alter site so i can get her and ragavan altered to be Kari and Gatomon from Digimon?) but hes still a little down that it's not a legendary creature to headline his mono red edh deck.
Scrapper Champion is gonna be his pauper commander general but i wanna show him a standard list that can make it work just so he can run it in every format we play, so far i can only think of a R/W equiptment list to make the most of her double strike.

If you have an idea for a deck, I'd be happy to give brewing one up a shot.

I would think a Energy deck with an equipment package would be a good way to go. The energy gives the Champ a chance to boost itself repeatedly and not be totally dependent on the equipment, and allows the deck to use Blossoming Defense and Heroic Intervention as means of protecting your Champion from removal. I'll try to think up a list.
