So I recently took the plunge and joined MTGO, with the intent of playing more and leveling-up my Standard game.

Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks/advice you may have!

Play Momir Basic. It's worth the investment.

Buy your singles from bot chains with their own websites; it just makes it infinitely easier to compare prices and get the best deals. Personally, I use Dojo Trade, GoatBots, Wiki Price and MTGOTraders, although I don't play Standard so I don't know if there are better ones for that purpose.

+1 for MTGOtraders.com, they are great to deal with. I have purchased cards for a pauper deck and my standard Colossus Affinity.

And pay attention to the order of things, it seems counterintuitive. I destroyed one of my own lands, I'm sure that really impressed my opponent. The order of choose spell, choose target, then tap mana is hard to get used to. And, I have skipped combat several times because I was going too fast. Make a pauper deck out of the starter kit to practice with before you get crazy buying cards.

Finally catching up on comments ...

MagicalHacker and PepsiAddicted,
I've heard about Momir, but haven't really dug in. I'll definitely do so!

Lame_Duck and Nosoup4ne1,
Great advice there ... I used CardHoarder for my first deck, kind of as a thank-you for their MTGO Beginner's Guide, but I really appreciate the links to others for the future!

Nosoup4ne1,
Great advice, and I really appreciate not having to learn that one the hard way!

Thanks to all, and feel free to keep those tips coming! :-)
