Relatively cheap Modern combo decks

Pretty sure this should be in Modern and not Deck Help. Anyway, my LGS is going to start holding Modern events, and after painfully trying to compete with the Standard meta, I've decided to join the Modern community. Anyway, I don't know where to start. I want a deck that has a fun combo (Like Sam Black's mono blue infect) but isn't very expensive. Since I'm currently building a Kaalia EDH deck, the Modern deck would probably have to be <$250. I'm open to any colors but a tricolor deck would probably be too ridiculously expensive.

Look up something like the Blistercoil Weird + Paradise Mantle + contrip combo modern decks, they're pretty cheap and are fairly competitive.

for the most part most decks are in the cheapish range till you get to the land. e.g. these decks are around 100-150$ (without Thoughtseize , first one has it in the sideboard), till you get to the land pumping it up to around 450$. using tcgplayer (last time I checked).
