What's so Weird about it?

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the idea of a weird planeswalker. I know only sentient beings with souls can be born with sparks, but we do know that Weirds can be sentient like Melek, and correct me if I'm wrong but I think any constructed sentient being can develop a soul like Karn, and if Karn can inherit a spark then surly a sentient Weird could as well. But I guess what I'm asking is does anyone think it's possible and if so do you like the idea of a Weird planeswalker?

I kind of thought there was going to be some weird shenanigans wherein Melek was going to somehow create a way to transfer Ral Zarek's spark to himself (I say create because he'd probably have no idea how Memnarch tried to do it, these being two completely separate planes and all). I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for a Weird to become a Planeswalker, but if they do explore it, I'd assume it would be at earliest in a Return to Return to Ravnica set (or maybe in a Commander supplemental product).

I think a weird planeswalker would be interesting but not the first race I'd want. Definitely possible, and the art would have to be badass.

The problem is more that Planeswalkers have to be both sentient and born with a PW spark.

Weirds are created beings, so it's not possible for one to be a Planeswalker unless they somehow take a spark from a Planeswalker. (Usually the only time this is possible is at the moment of that PW's death.)

Karn is the only PW to have done this, and it's likely that this was only possible because Urza's spark had already been transferred to him from the combined mightstone and weakstone. (It was originally Galacian's.) And the fact that those were artifacts and so was Karn blended super well. Also, there was an apocalypse ending Legacy Weapon to act as a catalyst. I'm not sure if there's anything on Ravnica that can compete with those power levels.

This is also why Angels and Demons can't be planeswalkers since they are created beings from pure white or black mana. (Ob Nixilis is the exception because he was born human.)

So basically, if you don't have biological parents, you can't be a Planeswalker. Which is odd, since nearly every Planeswalker's parents are dead in story. The only living family members of Planeswalkers I can think of are: Chandra's mom, Kiora's sister, and maybe Jace's parents (he doesn't know and neither do we).

Glissa transfered her spark to slobad without dying, she in fact survived for quite awhile, and she transfered it by accident if I remember correctly, also Venser transfered his spark to karn, and neither event had a legacy weapon as a catalyst. Altho the stones might have had a hand in it with karn considering he wasn't born naturally. tho it was my understanding that any sentient being with a soul could be born with a spark, and any artifical sentient being not born could develop a soul and thus then inherit a spark from someone else, I could be wrong tho

I may receive some hate for this, but......Karn was a stupid idea when they did it and I would prefer they didn't break any more rules.

How does an artificial being gain a soul? I mean really.....

I love Karn Liberated, but I hate the story. It's just......stupid.

I would say NO to the original question.

From the way the lore explains it an artifical being develops a soul from the experience they have and from what I can gage if they can differentiate from right and wrong and stuff like that, I could be totally wrong mind you and I'm going off of what I read.

To each there own with regards to karn and any possible future "artifical" planeswalkers. I for one look forward to more
