All signs point to Ugin being the one to strike down Bolas, hopefully this time permanently. If you agree, how do you think it should go down?

If you disagree, explain why.

Yeah I'm wondering the same, since Ugin hasn't really been mentioned much since BFZ.

Yeah, we haven't heard anything about Ugin in a while, but the person at

seems to think that Ugin has something to to with Ixalan. (Link syntax is broken for me.) Also, the mind Jace remembered before he planeswalked to Ixalan was described similarly to Ugin's.

That's still a lot of conjecture tbh. Like even though it's definitely possible, I'm pretty sure none of those really can be definite signs.

I think it's possible but a bit of, we'll see what actually happens before I believe further.

However, as for your question of him killing Nicol Bolas. He definitely has motive. Nicol Bolas tried to kill him on Tarkir, DID kill him until Sarkhan went back and changed time. He's also probably one of the few, if only, living Planeswalkers capable of doing so. I could see it happen and I love the idea of a new Ugin Planeswalker card. However, as previously mentioned the last time they fought, Bolas would have killed him, were it not for Sarkhan's involvement

Based on that fight story in Tarkir it looks like the two of them are nearly equal in terms of raw power. What had ended up determining the fight was Bolas taking over the dragons of Tarkir and sending them against Ugin. When it comes down to it I feel the winner in a fight like that will be whoever was able to get better backup.

I honestly couldn't say would win the fight there are so many variables that would change the winner that we simply don't know and can't predict right now.

The battle on Tarkir was also before Bolas absorbed the Maelstrom, so Bolas' power is much greater than it was when they were equals on Tarkir. Bolas has also been gathering 'allies', while Ugin has lost (at least temorarily) his 2 closest allies in Sorin an Nahiri, not to mention the fact that he and the Gatewatch were not really on good terms. So in a fight of Ugin vs Bolas, it seems like Ugin might be alone, unless he has allies we don't know about, and either way, it seems like Bolas would win. But I don't want to count Ugin out, while Bolas was spreading his plans across the multiverse, Ugin had to have been doing something to prepare for the inevitable confrontation with Bolas.

It feels unlikely that wizards would kill the bad guy poster child. Similarly to how they won't kill jace since he's mtgs poster child (good guy).

They may at some point, but it's unclear right now because they'd probably need someone to replace each as the main hero/villain.
