Best sets to draft with friends?

Just wondering what sets everyone would recommend for drafting with friends for the best fun or dollar value for drafting?

Have some boxes of Mystery Boosters to draft too :). I'm thinking of Amonkhet maybe as one of them.

I'm in Australia if that makes any difference.

One person suggested 1 booster of Amonkhet with 2 boosters of Hour of Devastation. Another suggested Dominaria and Throne of Eldraine for drafting. Not too sure on Eldraine, but Dominaria seems like a potential one.

Also, what sets would people recommend for drafting fun, that is also good for commander decks?

Thanks, Demon.

I mean, conspiracy is meant for drafts. It is probably pretty expensive now. If your looking at cheaper boxes, anything that is still in print would be cheapest. I think guilds of ravnica til now are being printed. They would also have a bunch of good cards for commander.

I loved drafting Khans myself, and there's value in fetches...

Battlebond is my favorite set and if your playing multiplayer it's the way to go

The three comments above hit my top 3. Khans, battlebond, and conspiracy are all great.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Will have to work out what I want to spend per box. Battlebond and Khans of Tarkir seem to be minimum $320 AUD, so not too sure on those.

Guilds of Ravnica or Allegiance would you say to get?

I do not think either of those sets currently has any valuable cards in them, besides the lands. So, value-wise I would not recommend it. In terms of complexity - the newest Theros hits a very good spot in terms of complexity of drafting and interesting plays. I think it is currently the best set for limited still in print and there are some pretty heavy hitting value cards in there.

If your looking for something still in standard I'd say go with throne of eldraine because it has some decent value cards and has the beautiful show case art. Or war of the spark but from what I understand limited was pretty bad due to all the walkers

I did not enjoy War from a limited standpoint at all, but from recent sets I think Throne presents some of the most fun Limited play available. There were plenty of archetypes to build around but everything also worked well enough together that you could just draft some jank and be viable.

Conspiracy was the only draft format I personally had a great time with every time.

That said battle for Zendikar gave me my favorite draft deck I ever built. It was a Seek the Wilds and Anticipate deck that just dug for a 7 mana hexproof trampler. I won the draft at FNM that week

i have never really drafted before, but i use a couple of draft simulating sites. i would not reccomend unstable because of the contraptions going in a seperate deck.

Conspiracy and Conspiracy: Take the Crown are both great and have some decent EDH, Legacy, and Vintage cards in them that are worth money. The Mystery Boosters are also amazing as all heck. Kahns of Tarkir and OG Innistrad are both amazing, but also both very pricy. If you want to decide between Guilds and Allegiance (although neither are all-time greats) I personally hated Guilds because of the lack of diversity of archetypes, and enjoyed Allegiance a lot. A lot of people love Dominaria, although I can't attest for it personally. OG Zendikar is fun if you like playing all aggro decks, and Rise of the Eldrazi does the same for slower decks, although both are pricy.

If you can find a box cheap or some packs, modern horizons was a personal favorite of mine. The draft environment in that set was awesome and there was definitely some fun archtypes like b/r goblins or snow-matters themes. I will back the others though and say both conspiracies and battlebond were excellent sets and super unique drafting environments. I love conspiracy and almost always get a pack if I see it at a store for cheap.

In no particular order:

Innistrad Khans Rise of the Eldrazi Dominaria

But honestly, rather than buy a box, you could build a set cube for less than that, and then draft them forever.

Echoing the sentiment above, set cubes really are the best way to draft old sets. If you skip the chase cards, making one (I do 4x commons, 2x uncommons, 1x rares/mythics) is the same price if not cheaper than a box, and is infinitely playable after that. I have an Innistrad and Unstable set cube, and am working on getting a Khans and a Dominaria cube.
