KMC Sleeves

I have one set of KMC sleeves that are silver. I've had them about 3 months and the fronts are already so foggy that you can't tell a foil from a non-foil.

My question is, are all KMCs like this? Or are the matte ones better? Or is it just the silver?

I tend to dislike KMCs sleeves unless they're Perfect Fits. I usually double sleeve with KMC PF and Clear Dragon Shields if its a deck I care about (assuming I have no DFCs). Matte is usually better quality though.

I just got my first set of Dragon Shields today, they aren't matte but I'm loving them so far. They feel amazingly smooth.

I'm thinking of replacing my silver KMC's with silver Dragon Shields. The KMCs are also starting to curl, can't let my Vampires be abused. Lol

I've had a set of KMC Hyper Mats for 3 years, and the only issue I've had is they the top of the sleeve gets super wavy, but I think most sleeves do that.

Cool, I might try another set. I have noticed the top doesn't close as well as other sleeves.

I really like these Dragon Shields I just got though.

I like Drag Shield mattes, but the regular glossy dragon shields corners curl and make shuffling a pain. I would recommend getting some Ultra Pro Eclipse, they are very nice, especially with the ultra pro pro-fits.

KMC hyper mattes are the best KMC sleeves so I recommend you trying them. They are my sleeve of choice and I have tried damn near every type of sleeve

I'll give them a try, you're not the first to tell me that. Thanks!

I think I shouldn't have bought the gloss ones, but damn I really wanted some silver sleeves. Lol

I don't like any gloss finish sleeve. There are so many issues and from what I've personally noticed the quality regardless of brand on non-matte finish is subpar.

That said, my personal favorite are the KMC hyper mattes. The reds I've heard of people having issues with splits, but that seems to be limited to that color for some reason. I have been using blues for a while and had 2 splits in 4 or so years since switching over. Dragon Shields are fine if you're trying to be economical about it, but if you just want overall value long term I don't think Hyper mattes can lead you wrong. Again, just my observations/opinion. Dragon Shields regardless of finish just seem to get too grimy too fast even with playing on a playmat vs hypers.

Thanks! I'll have to wait and see how fast my DShields get dirty, I did read they get dirty easier somewhere.

Ive never split a sleeve before, I have a lot of Ultra Pro Mattes as they're the easiest for me to obtain if I don't order and I've never ever split one. Nor a KMC. I don't know if people shuffle harder than me or if I'm easier on my cards than most people.

After reading all these comments I believe I'll try the Hyper Mattes. Thanks guys

I don't use foils really but I love my matte KMCs to the point where I just buy those when I got shopping for more card sleeves. My only issue I've had with them is as someone mentioned above the tops do get a bit wavy and on a rare very rare occasion I've had the sleeves split on the most bizzare ways such as the bottom corner of the sleeve. But that's only happened twice or 3 times in over 3-4 years of buying those sleeves.

I never worry about sleeves splitting, I've never even split one before so I guess I'm just gentle. Lol

I'm sure it will happen sooner or later but in 3 years I haven't split one yet.

I also don't use foils very often, just have a few, I was just using that as explanation of how foggy they get. Although I do like to see a foil if I have one.

None of my sleeves have ever split.

Ultra Pro Pro Matte sleeves are my favourite for cool colours but, after playing a season with KMC mattes, I have to say that I see why people like them.

Easy to shuffle and the corners don't bend easily, which they do with the Utra Pros.

Yeah I've never split one either, one of the backs peeled off my silver KMC's but I've found the silver and gold sleeves aren't very good.

I have 5 decks sleeved in Ultra Pro and I like them, haven't had corner bending either but I started running DragonShields. They're the best I've used thus far so I'm just gonna continue using them.

The reason I have so many Ultra Pro Pro Mattes is because I don't have a LGS and I can pick them up at Walmart when I need some sleeves quickly.

KMC (imo) used to be the best card sleeves out there but lately I have encountered quality control issues in some packs. I have come to expect this however since most manufacturers have issues. However, the KMC Perfect fits usually never give me issues but that likely due to them being a protected inner sleeve.
