phyrexian obliterator help?

hey, ive been out of the MTG community for quite sometime. at my return i noticed the huge spike in obliterators price yet cant find out why. hes out of standard. what powerhouse decks is he run in to support the $30 price tag?

Casual kids go Insano volcano over that card and it's only been printed once.

He sold big when Gray Merchant of Asphodel came out. Modern devotion decks loved him for a time. It seems like, while it's not played as much anymore, people still have him sitting, unused, in those decks. Basically just limited supplies.

oh ok. well i guess casual junkies+people holding on to it because of an old meta ish deck makes sense. thanks for the help XD

Honestly he rarely sees play in modern. Only in GB rock decks. Lots of edh play, and I'm not sure about legacy, but I don't think so.
