MTG Finance Websites

Hey,

How do sites like MTGstocks, or any other websites extract price history data?

Do they extract it from TCGPlayer?

And if so, do they have to pay TCGPlayer for access to their data?

Do the sites then extract it to like their excel spreadsheet, and then have their spreadsheet link to their website?

I am just intrigued on how all of this is automated.

All I know is that tcgplayer gets information from other websites that sell cards and average them and stuff and things like mtg stocks either do the same or get them from tcgplayer and yes they would probably have to pay tcgplayer for access to their information if they wanted their lives to be easy.

The FAQ on MTGStocks confirms that they get their data from TCGPlayer, but beyond that it doesn't really clarify much.

From what I've seen, they pull data from TCGplayer once-a-day, and they average the info, and conform highs and lows from the data over years of daily tracking. I don't believe they pull stuff like ATL/ATH from TCG, but I may be wrong.

The reason why I asked, because I wanted to create a personal MTG finance website and do more manipulation with the data.

But thanks for all those who responded.

EmblemMan What data does TCG pull from other sites? Their card prices are based on what's being sold on their own site.
