Question about Traitorous Instinct

Asked by usserry 9 years ago

Hello, This is my first time posting so sorry if this question has been asked before but i didn't find an exact answer in a search.

If i take control of a creature with Traitorous Instinct , it won't have summoning sickness on my turn because of the Haste. But once my turn is over and it returns to the original player's battlefield, It has summoning sickness even though it has essentially been there since the beginning of their turn, correct?

I guess basically the way I understand it, Summoning Sickness lasts 1 full turn. It doesn't come off until the beginning of the 2nd turn that it's been on the battlefield under a specific player's control. Is that right?

Rules questions should be asked in the Q&A, which is linked in the header bar. I can't convert this to a Q&A thread, so I'm moving it to BE.

It has not been there since the beginning of their turn, though. Summoning sickness affects any creature whose controller has not continuously controlled that creature since his or her most recent turn began. The creature you return with Traitorous Instinct will have summoning sickness once returned, and it won't lose summoning sickness until its controller's next turn begins.

Please also note that Traitorous Instinct is a sorcery so the controllers next turn in a two player will likely be immediately after they regain control on your end step. If you somehow were able to cast Traitorous Instinct at instant speed on your opponent's turn they would regain control of it on their end step and it would have summoning sickness during your turn.

I feel like Epoch has "Rules questions should be asked in the Q&A, which is linked in the header bar. I can't convert this to a Q&A thread, so I'm moving it to BE." just copied and he just has to push CTRL V all the time..
